Privacy Policy

HookForge (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the HookForge mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Account credentials. When you register, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password (bcrypt). We never store your password in plain text.
  • Usage records. We log hook-generation requests (timestamp, number of hooks generated, and subscription tier) to enforce daily and monthly usage quotas.
  • AI prompt data.When you generate hooks, the topic or description you provide is transmitted to Anthropic’s Claude API to produce results. Anthropic may process and temporarily retain this data in accordance with their own API data usage policies.
  • Subscription and payment data. We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your Apple App Store receipt data and subscription status. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
  • Device and session identifiers. Standard iOS device identifiers may be used for authentication session management and crash reporting.

How We Use Your Information

  • Authentication. Your email and password hash are used to verify your identity when you sign in.
  • Quota enforcement. Usage records allow us to enforce the generation limits associated with your subscription tier (free or paid).
  • Billing and subscription management. Receipt and subscription status data from RevenueCat is used to determine whether your account has an active paid subscription and to process renewals.
  • Hook generation.Your topic input is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API solely for the purpose of generating hook suggestions. We do not use your prompts to train our own models.
  • Email verification. We send a one-time verification link to the email address you register with to confirm ownership before activating your account.
  • Service improvement. Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (e.g., total hooks generated per day) may be used to monitor and improve app performance.

Third-Party Services

HookForge shares data with the following third parties only as necessary to operate the service:

  • Anthropic, Inc. — Receives your hook generation prompts to power the Claude AI model. Subject to Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. — Manages in-app subscription state and Apple receipt validation. Subject to RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
  • Apple, Inc.— Processes all App Store transactions and subscription payments. Subject to Apple’s App Store Terms and Privacy Policy.
  • Railway / PostgreSQL.— Our backend server and database are hosted on Railway. Your account data and usage records are stored in a PostgreSQL database on Railway’s infrastructure, located in the United States.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your account information (email, hashed password, and usage records) for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion (see “Your Rights” below), we will permanently delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days of receiving a verified deletion request.

Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics that do not identify any individual user may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction. You may request that we correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion. You may request that we delete your account and all associated personal data by emailing hookforgeapp@gmail.com from the address associated with your account. We will confirm and process deletion requests within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children’s Privacy

HookForge is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hookforgeapp@gmail.comand we will delete it promptly. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including password hashing (bcrypt), HTTPS encryption in transit, and access controls on our database. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
